Omarchy 4.6 is already far along too. And this one won't take as long to drop. We'll flesh out the entire Snapdragon line-up. Perfect the NVIDIA N1x machines. Out-of-the-box local AI. And hopefully finish Omarchy Kids and some of the other promises that weren't ready for 4.5.

After 20 years of being an Apple superfan, I made the full switch to @omarchy Linux. It has now been my sole setup for three months. Never going back. Omarchy feels like a glimpse of the future. With AI, software is now free to write. It doesn't have to be one-size-fits-all anymore. It's now possible for your operating system to mold itself on-the-fly to your individual use cases and preferences. All you should ever have to do is ask it to do that for you. Omarchy is the only serious effort fully embracing AI and on a sprint to make that vision real. Not to mention, this thing is fucking beautiful. @dhh + team + community really cooked here. And sure, Apple products are also still beautiful. There's no denying that, but once you glimpse the world beyond, you will never again unsee the soft oppressiveness of their walled garden. Apple's ecosystem is governed by a brand of paternalism that doesn't trust you to handle your own machine. It believes that you will helplessly hurt yourself if—God forbid—you choose to change anything about how it works. So you can't. They won't let you. And that was maybe fine back when Apple was an innovative company. At least the choices that they forced on you were good and on the cutting edge. Today, it just means that you're forever stuck with Siri. So come join the movement 🚀

Superwhisper is shipping as the default dictation setup in Omarchy 4.5. The free 10k word cloud option means you can get started without even having to download a model. Then you can switch to local-model dictation later if you like. It's so good!

The fact that we still have nuclear weapons tells me people don’t understand them. When I was at Uni, we studied descriptions from survivors of the atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I thought it would be like learning about any other harrowing history. I was very wrong. It disturbed me in my bones and never left me. When the atomic bombs detonated in Japan, some of these survivors literally thought it was an alien invasion. This was because the flash was so blinding bright and silent, they had never imagined anything like it before. There was also no noise for those close to the blast. The shockwave hit their ears at the same time as the sound, sending them flying and shattering everything in its wake. This became known as the Pika-Don. For those further away from the detonation, the sound following the flash was deafening beyond description. It was described as an impossible crack, as if the sky had snapped open. This was trailed by a terrifying deep roar that screamed outwards. It was considered one of the loudest events in human history. Then there was the thermal heat wave. It was so hot it vaporised people in the open instantly and other peoples clothes melted into their skin. Many were burned beyond belief and just stood there screaming or silent, as the sky turned black from the dust, ash and debris. Wild firestorms spread throughout the city, as people searched in darkness for their families and friends. But the worst was yet to come. Those that died in the blast were the lucky ones. Over the coming days and weeks, people’s hair fell out. Without explanation those that had incredibly survived, started to confusingly fall ill and perish over time. I don’t want to describe the side effects of the radiation sickness, but it made me cry reading about it. today we are announcing openrouter for commerce: opencommerce.sh a single endpoint that integrates 5k stores, including Doordash, Amazon and most shopify stores, with payments using Agentcard (Stripe Link and Shop coming soon). we built opencommerce to solve 3 problems: * coverage: one endpoint to integrate 5k stores. agentic purchasing is a core feature for most personal assistants, but not their main business. searching for products and buying on behalf of users shouldn’t be as painful as it is today (e.g. it shouldn’t involve browser automations or dealing with PSPs). opencommerce solves that: 1 tool, every online store. * reliability: 100% uptime. the challenge with browser automations is that they fail (e.g. captchas, bot-detection, etc). we run thousands of tests every couple of hours on every one of the stores to guarantee that the integration works when your user tries to buy something. * speed: responses in under 10s. consumers are used to Amazon speed, and agentic purchases have so far felt like a downgrade. most agents spend minutes finding products before they come back with results. we monitor speed and improve it constantly.
